Meso West is missing CWOP stations
« on: December 13, 2025, 08:46:26 AM »
Noticed yesterday on Meso West all networks are down outside the NWS, this includes RAWS, APRSWXNET/CWOP stations. Looked on their website and no mention of what is going on.

Looks like the data has been transferred to Synoptic.

Yes, back online, and with the data restored. The Synoptic site does have missing data though.

Unfortunately, it looks like Meso West is closing down. I really don't care for the Synoptic Data layout for publishing on the website. Too bad really. Here's the email I received today.

Randy you could try weather obs. This is set to my area. Just have to change the location to you.

Thanks for the tip, I like it, but my main issue, I can't find the wind barb along with temperature like Meso West does. It's either or,  probably won't have a choice since Meso West is sunsetting.

Here it is, I zoomed in a little so my station shows. https://weatherobs.com/mob.html

It looks like NWS obs are hourly. I've already got that covered with hourly updates. I'll keep playing around with the Synoptic viewer and see If I can figure something out.

I assume you’re familiar with the NWS display of the Synoptic data? It will do the wind barb with all other station data.

 is sunsetting.

I hate that term.  Some kind of yuppiespeak.

Retired

Shut down

Discontinued

Terminated.

Going away.

Ended.

I noticed a few months ago when going to the site it says they will be shut down as of I believe Jan 2027.  Synoptic I guess is "ok" but would rather have a "university" manage weather data over corporate.  Looked at my weather underground site for first time in a few years tonight and noticed a big blue box saying experience an all new weather underground.  Realyy??? Whut??? It was just a handful of years ago they started mucking things up.
